Unlocking Brave browser with locked profile

After an unexpected shutdown, Brave browser would not start reporting,

[14454:14454:1229/090958.661814:ERROR:process_singleton_posix.cc(353)] The profile appears to be in use by another Brave process (5970) on another computer (localhost.localdomain). Brave has locked the profile so that it doesn't get corrupted. If you are sure no other processes are using this profile, you can unlock the profile and relaunch Brave.
[14454:14454:1229/090958.661909:ERROR:message_box_dialog.cc(146)] Unable to show a dialog out side the UI thread message loop: Brave - The profile appears to be in use by another Brave process (5970) on another computer (localhost.localdomain). Brave has locked the profile so that it doesn't get corrupted. If you are sure no other processes are using this profile, you can unlock the profile and relaunch Brave.

In order to remedy, navigate to $HOME/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser and look for the symlink named SingletonLock. Remove this symlink and Brave should restart.
